Monthly Recap October 2017

Hello all to my first monthly recap on Jumbled Thoughts of a Writer. This is where I will be sharing my monthly happenings from my life, on the blogosphere and my writing.

General Life

I began this month with two weeks of holidays that I coincided with the launch of this blog. It was a nice two weeks, but then it was back at school with teachers finishing the last of subject and now have dived right into revision in preparations for exams in November.

In English I finished and submitted my English Folio. It held a year’s worth of writing and refining. It’s exciting and I fell happy with what I accomplished.

Books Read

This is the time of month where I look back at goodreads to see what books I did read. Sometimes it’s just hard to remember.

Survival by Chris Ryan

The Magician’s Nephew (Radio Theatre version)

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe (Radio Theatre version)

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

The Deep End of the Ocean by Jacquelyn Mitchard

At the beginning of this year I set a goal of reading about 35 because I knew grade 12 would be busy later in the year I changed it to 45. Currently I have read 71 of 45 books.

Books Currently Reading

This Changes Everything by Jaquelle Crowe

Writing

In mid-september I started working on my current WIP which as of yet I am just calling Adrian’s WIP after my main character. In the last month and a bit since then I’ve written 10,047. To be honest this makes me proud of myself because the only other time I wrote this much has been during an Nano event. I have been writing fairly consistently and my goal for the end of the year whether I finish the novel or not is to write 50,000 words.

In November I plan to participate in NaNoWriMo which is to attempt to write at least a 50,000 word novel in a month. I’m not sure that I will be able to achieve that with exams on, but I plan to write as much as I can.

Around the Blogosphere

Here are some interesting and informative posts that I have discovered around the blogosphere.

What It’s Like to be an Autistic Book Blogger by Cait @ Paperfury It’s definitely worth a read about something that most people likely wouldn’t have an insight into.

So Your Character is Hard of Hearing… another great post in the So Your Character is… segment by Victoria Grace Howell @ Wanderer’s Pen

Cait @ Paperfury announced her debut novel A Thousand Perfect Notes. I’m so excited. I love hearing about the novels she’s working on and I definitely think I will be getting the book when it comes out.
